All of us have seen the T.J Maxx, Marshalls, or Ross commercials depicting a designer hungry shopaholic. But do we fully understand the concept of designer, not knock-off, at discounted prices up to 75 percent? Are they real designer, or…fake designer?
The merchandise sold by these retailers is designer, either off-season, over-stocked, or maybe has a hem or button that is off center. All of the merchandise is wearable, or usable, but look carefully because some of the items may have a small tear or nick. Cons aside, the majority of the merchandise is perfectly fine, and are quirky items that you may not be able to find anywhere else in your area!
As college students we want the most for our money, and these retailers offer us that luxury. If you still don’t agree on the idea of discount shopping, let me give you an example. I bought a shirt from a department store for $50.00. Later that week I found it at an off price retailer for only $14.99, which is less than 30 percent of the department store price. If I would have waited I would have saved OVER 70 percent on the shirt, and I would have been able to buy three shirts at the off price store for the same price as just one shirt from the department store.
Although off-price retailers have pros and cons like any store, if you don’t want to go broke, designer hungry or not, off-price retailers are the way to go!
