KU Receives National Recognition

For years The University of Kansas has been known for their service to their community, and not only by the community but also by the country.  For the fourth year in a row, KU has received the outstanding recognition of being named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.  This is the highest recognition that a college or university can receive, and is a great honor to be part of such a distinguished award.

The students of KU volunteered their time over 971,758 hours to provide free health services, and tax services to the Lawrence community, and the service doesn’t stop there.  Students also volunteer at organizations such as Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, and Angel Tree.

This is what chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little has to say about the honor, “I am very proud that the University of Kansas has been selected to this outstanding honor once again.  KU has a strong reputation for service, and I truly believe that students who take part in service not only make their communities stronger, they enhance their education in immeasurable ways.”

University of Kansas, you should be extremely proud of yourselves, and of your peers for the wonderful things you have done with your time.  Thank you for inspiring fellow universities to follow in your footsteps, and for making your community a better place.
