Twitter-Friend or Foe?

Twitter has swept the nation, replacing Myspace and becoming bestfriends with Facebook. Its lightning fast updates and tantalizing pieces of news have become daily insights for many college students. Twitter was meant as a way to spread certifiable news and tidbits at revolutionary speeds, but it has quickly become yet another social networking site. Students at the University of Arkansas are well aware of the power of Twitter. And its inherent dangers! As the death of rapper Kanye West spread like wildfire through the networking site, people were left to wonder if it was really true. Of course it was just another speckle of fiction tossed around with the help of quick technology. Students at U of A say they hardly ever resort to the site for a worthy newsource, but are vigilant in case something of potential pops up. It’s a matter of trusting your sources and double checking, say most students who use the site. Besides, its more for the fun of keeping up with friends and family than current events! Though Twitter can in fact shed some insider light on a story it’s a better idea to keep it on the list right next to Facebook. If you want to know how your uncle is doing in Maine in a split second than Twitter is a safe bet…but if your worried about a breaking news story I would say find it on the TV!
