It’s party time in San Antonio! That’s right everybody, San Antonio’s biggest festival of the year has officially started as of today! Not familiar with Fiesta? It’s an annual spring festival with origins dating back to the late 1800s which begun as a single event to honor the memory of the battles of The Alamo and San Jacinto. This event is crucial to San Antonio’s economy as it gives the city about $285 each year. Participants can enjoy more than 100 events taking place all over the city.

Fiesta will officially kick off with the Fiesta Fiesta celebration in front of the Alamo on April 15th at 5 PM which will include Emmy winning ABC newsman John Quinones as the emcee, music by country star Kevin Fowler, and a parade. The San Antonio Conversation Society will be holding perennially popular “Night Out In Old San Antonio” (NIOSA) from April 20th to April 23rd. NIOSA celebrates the city’s unique heritage and features 240 assorted food and drink booths and more than a dozen entertainment stages which showcase the city’s diversity. Another popular event is the Fiesta Oyster Bake which takes place on the campus of St Mary’s University on April 16th and 17th.
