Health First

Our health is the most important thing we have.  Without a healthy lifestyle, nothing else really matters.  As college students we tend to forget about basic health fundamentals, and we turn more towards what is fast and convenient to fit out busy lives.  Below are a few suggestions to help you stay healthy not just through college, but through your life!

Get enough sleep. When it comes to balancing busy schedules, students tend to put sleep low on their list of priorities. Without sleep, you’re not going to be able to concentrate well enough on classwork. If you can’t always get a good night sleep, work regular naps into your schedule, but try to keep your sleep schedule consistent.

Eat sensibly. Many of us have gained weight since we started college.  Thanks to late night eating and over indulging in junk food, the freshman fifteen just keeps getting higher.  To stop this, eat at normal times and if you must eat late at night, make it a healthy choice.  And NEVER skip breakfast, and more water and less soda.

Exercise. Find a sport or an activity that you really enjoy and go for it.  Utilize the student recreation center.  It is there for a reason, and the fees student pay for school covers it!

Learn to relax.  This can be very difficult for many students.  Learn to put things in perspective and to be realistic with your goals.  Manage your time wisely so the work doesn’t pile on you causing a lot of stress.
