Getting a good job is as much part of the summer as bikinis, tanning and vacationing. The busy rush to and from work, melting away under the scalding summer sun…yes, that is definately part of what it is to finally take a break. College students love to earn as much money as possible so they can splurge on a new car or buy that absolutely beautiful new wardrobe they have been dying for. Of course there is the monotony of trifles such as bills and gas. It’s everyday life of course, but the summer offers a hope of escape.
Instead of splurging that six hundred dollar check on nonsense it is important to make sure you put a little bit aside for a rainy day. An emergency fund is exactly that; funds set up for emergencies. Unless you are psychic you won’t be able to predict when your car will start to moan and whine, nor will you be able to know when that speeding ticket is coming your way. Besides, being just a bit frugal and saving is a good habit to get into it. It makes you more accountable to your wallet and helps you balance out your account. So Fresno State students, while taking out some “me time” money is always healthy, don’t forget to keep it realistic by putting some into savings!
