The school year is just about started at UT - San Antonio and students will soon be saying “goodbye” to summertime and hello to homework, lectures, and assignments. These days, simply just going to class for all four undergraduate years and earning your bachelor’s degree is not the best way to attract a perspective employer. They are looking for well rounded individuals who participate in extra curricular activities, such as student organizations or intramural sports. These tips will get you started on the right track:
1. Pursue an activity that you enjoy: Like soccer? Try out for the club soccer team. Like arguing? Join the debate team. If there is something that you are passionate about and isn’t offered, start your own club!
2. Keep track of everything that you do: Work, community service, and any sort of extracurricular activities are excellent resume’ builders. Record however many hours you’ve completed in these events.
3. Start working on your resume’ now: Waiting till the last minute to scramble and create a resume’ is just not a good idea. If you start now, it will be a less stressful experience in the long run. There are many resources located online and at UTSA to assist you in this endeavor.
