Labor Day Rules: To Wear White or Not?

Posted on Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 under Smart Student Living.

Everyone knows the common rule: don’t wear white after Labor Day.

As we’ve always been taught, white has been deemed solely for the summer months in between Memorial Day until the first Monday in September. No one really knows when, where, or why this rule came up. However, Labor Day, September 6th, is right around the corner and for some reason; people love to call you out! So, guys & girls, do you toss the white shoes, pants, & dresses during the fall months or keep them around and pair them with a cute scarf or your favorite sports team hat?

Granted, white is usually associated with the fun summer months that are rapidly running away from us as fall is approaching. Pairing that white summer dress with flip-flops makes for a perfect run to the grocery store. However, with our contemporary world, we’ve come to realize that climate should not control color. Initially, the rule was to imply that you can’t wear white shoes after Labor Day and that’s probably the strongest correlation that still stands true. Women are dressing in winter white now, more than ever, and a pair of white sneakers is always in style for men.

Welcome to 2010: Don’t let your wardrobe color palette be limited. Step out of your Place Properties apartment confidently mixing white with other colors during all times of the year. It’s come to be that this can often make an outfit look crisp & polished.
