Fort Wayne, Indiana topped a list generated by the Labor Department of the best places to find a job.
According to the article published by The Fiscal Times, Fort Wayne was followed by Worcester, Massachusetts. Others included San Jose, Tulsa, Tuscon, and Akron. The Fiscal Times article cited jobs added by General Motors and Vera Bradley, and expansions by B.F. Goodrich and Raytheon secured Fort Wayne the top spot.
“Getting The Fiscal Times #1 rating validates what we’ve known all along: Fort Wayne is the best place in America to start and grow a business. As mayor, I am doing everything in my power, together with all of our economic development partners, to make Fort Wayne the most attractive and competitive destination for good jobs, new investment and business growth. We’ve streamlined permitting; we’ve energized our downtown; we’re constantly improving our infrastructure; and we have a talented workforce that is ready to go. The welcome mat is out in Fort Wayne, Indiana,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry.
The 3.9% increase in total number of jobs placed Fort Wayne in the top ranking. The swell was also enough to bring the unemployment rate down 8.1% – a full point below the national average. This is good news for graduates looking to stay in Fort Wayne to begin their careers.
