It’s been a long time coming, but UTSA finally kicked off their inaugural football season. They started the season on the right note with a 31-3 stomping of Northeastern State in front of 56,000 rowdy fans in the Alamodome (an NCAA attendance record for a new football program). Quarterback Eric Soza, a transfer from Texas State, led the team with 237 passing yards, 102 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Led by national championship-winning coach Larry Coker, the Roadrunners will be playing smaller schools this season in preparation to face tougher competition next year, when they will join the Western Athletic Conference.
The Road Runners home games are on the following dates:
Sept. 10: McMurry (USAA Military Appreciation Night)
Sept. 24: Bacone College (Homecoming)
Oct. 8: South Alabama
Oct. 29: Georgia State
Nov. 19: Minot State
Students get free admission to games and can purchase guest tickets for the college-budget-friendly rate of $10. VIA will provide transportation from UTSA’s main or downtown campuses to the AlamoDome for a small fare. Grab some friends and head out to the AlamoDome for UTSA’s next game! You will definitely have a great time! Go Runners!
