UNCC event gives insight on Career Paths

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

It’s always been the norm to figure out yourself while in college. You pick a major, stick with it, and eventually find a job. Does that always work out? No. If you’re anything like me, your major may have ended up being something that you didn’t think it was.

In today’s world, more people are switching up their careers all throughout their lives. According to UNC-Charlotte’s website, “It is now estimated that people will make 7-12 career changes, or shifts, in their lifetime.”

That seems like a lot! This could stem from people not really understanding or learning their ultimate passion in life when choosing a career. When leaving your 901 Place apartment to go to classes on September 8th, definitely head to 150 Atkins between 1pm and 2pm to attend this UNCC workshop that primarily deals with how to successfully plan your career path lead by the University Career Center.

This event will help you in deciding all of the main components needed in progressing in the right direction for a future career. Also noted on the website, those who attend should plan on utilizing advice pertaining to “identifying your interests and abilities, exploring occupations, choosing a college major, conducting a job search, growing in a job, and possibly changing careers.”

You never know, you can figure out more about yourself than you think! Life is ever changing!
