Pacquiao vs. Clottey: “The Event”

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

The new, 100,000 seat, Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas has hosted numerous significant events during its 10 month existence. On top of being the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, the stadium has been the venue for international soccer matches, the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, and performances by music sensations such as the Jonas Brothers.

On March 13th, Cowboys stadium will host another exciting occasion known as, “The Event” in which the World Boxing Organization Welterweight Championship title will be up for grabs. Filipino hero, Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao will defend his title against Ghanaian challenger/former International Boxing Federation Welterweight Champion, Joshua Clottey. This fight was arranged shortly after the scheduled title match between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather was cancelled, due to disagreements about Olympic-style drug testing.

Who will win the fight? Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddy Roach predicts that the fight won’t last 12 rounds due to “Pac-Man’s” intense training (which included 23 consecutive rounds of sparring) and Clottey’s tendency to make mistakes.

No matter what your income may be, you can be in attendance at “The Event” by purchasing a ticket for anywhere between $50-8,000. If you’re unable to watch the event in person, you can check it out on HBO pay per view.
