What to Wear for Halloween 2010

Monday, October 25th, 2010

The scariest time of the year is upon us yet again and many students have yet to find the perfect costume for Halloween 2010. The following ideas will be among the most popular choices this year:

Antoine Dodson - This internet celebrity skyrocketed to fame after his flamboyant news appearance was converted into “The Bed Intruder” song, an autotuned track which has 35 million hits on YouTube and is one of the most popular songs of the year. You can purchase his costume at http://www.bedintrudercostume.com/ for $24.99 plus shipping and handling.

Anyone from Jersey Shore - MTV’s Jersey Shore debuted in December 2009 and is one of the most frequently watched shows in all of television. Whether you want to be Snooki, Pauly D, J Woww, or “The Situation”, it’s super easy to come up with an outfit. Guys can dress up in a nice collared shirt (with the collar popped of course), get a tan, and hit the gym, while the ladies can effortlessly emulate their favorite character’s outfit.

Lady Gaga - The super strange pop superstar was a popular choice last year, and with a bunch of new outfits to choose from, the possibilities are limitless! However, proceed with caution if you choose to wear a dress composed entirely of meat.

These costumes will definitely be among the top choices for Halloween-goers in 2010. Whichever you choose to be, the most important thing is to have fun! Have a great Halloween 2010!

Lollapalooza Coming to Grant Park

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Summer may be the best time to catch a concert, but those student loans may be holding you back from seeing the dynamic Lady Gaga on her Monster Ball Tour. According to Ticketmaster.com, standard admission to see the reigning queen of pop at Madison Square Garden costs just a few dollars short of $200. Tickets to see crooner Michael Bublé at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas go for $95, with auctions starting at $450 per ticket. If classic rock is more your thing, you could expect to pay over $70 for a single ticket to see the legendary glam band KISS.

But don’t worry, Lollapalooza is coming back to Chicago’s Grant Park August 6-8, offering coutless concerts for one low price. The three day event will feature Green Day, Lady Gaga, The Strokes, Pheonix, MGMT, MuteMath, and Switchfoot, just to name a few. Lollapalooza has featured a diverse range of bands and has helped expose and popularize alternative rock groups such as Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails for the past 19 years. Conceived and created in 1991 by singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band, Jane’s Addiction, Lollapalooza ran annually until 1997, was revived in 2003, and has since been reworked into its current format as a weekend festival at Grant Park in Chicago, IL.

Go to www.lollapalooza.com to get more information and purchase tickets. All proceeds go to the Parkways Foundation, enhancing Chicago’s public space.
