Best in the West

According to the Princeton Review, The University of Texas at Arlington was named one of the best colleges in the West. The nationally known educational services company chose 120 institutions for its “Best in the West” list are located in 15 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. UT Arlington is one of 120 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in its “Best in the West” section of its website feature “2011 Best Colleges: Region by Region” posted on PrincetonReview.com.

Collectively, the 623 colleges named among the four regional best areas make up about 25 percent of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges. For the “2011 Best Colleges: Region by Region” list, the Princeton Review asked current students to rate their own schools on several issues from the accessibility of their professors to quality of the campus food. Students also answered questions about themselves, their fellow students and their campus life.

According to The Princeton Review, Ohio University is one of the best colleges in the Midwest. “We’re pleased to recommend Ohio University as one of the best schools to earn an undergraduate degree. We chose it and the other terrific institutions we named as ‘regional best’ colleges mainly for their excellent academic programs,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president of publishing. Ohio University is one of 152 “Best in the Midwest” institutions on the “2011 Best Colleges: Region by Region” rankings on princetonreview.com.

Vice president for student affairs, Kent J. Smith, Jr., Ph.D., said the ranking reflects OHIO’s vision to provide the best student-centered learning experience in America. “We are pleased to be recognized for our outstanding academics as judged by educational professionals,” Smith said. “It is our goal, every day, to provide OHIO students with the highest quality academic experience coupled with meaningful out-of-class opportunities and professional support services to help them grow and develop into the people who will become tomorrow’s leaders.
