These days, environmental conservation is more important than ever. Many say that going green is too costly, but there are several ways to do your part in protecting the environment and saving yourself a few bucks in the process:
1. Unplug the charger of chargeable appliances - When you aren’t currently charging your cell phone or laptop, unplug the charger. According to Future Forests, only 5% of the power drawn by cell phone chargers is actually used to charge phones. The other 95% is wasted when you leave it plugged into the wall, but not into your phone.
2. Turn off your lights if you don’t need them - Save yourself a few dollars by flipping that light switch off when there’s adequate light in your place or if you’re currently not in the room in which the light switch is flipped on. You may be enjoying yourself in an extremely comfortable position on your couch, but get up during that commercial break, turn off the lights, and think about the money that you’ll be saving. You’ll also be doing your part in going green.
3. When you aren’t home, raise the temperature of your air conditioner- Why leave the air conditioner on a really low temperature when you aren’t home? In warmer regions, Air Conditioning can account for 60-70% of your electric bill. Crank the temperature up by a few degrees when you’re out and about and you’ll see a noticeable difference in your energy bill.
