Bargain Shopping in Greensboro

Monday, May 31st, 2010

I know that a lot of us will be moving into a new apartment this fall and you may be wondering where to go to find just the right decorations.  The Super Flea Market at the Greensboro Coliseum is one of the largest in the state and features hundreds of dealers from throughout the Southeast.  The Super Flea Market was established in 1976, and since then it has had a great reputation.  The Market is open for two days each month, and you are sure to find an array of unique items each time you visit.  Dealers sale anything from antiques, jewelry, new items, used items, and  much more.  In 2004 a man bought a pack of postcards from a dealer for seventy-five cents, and later that day the same man stopped by a Super Flea Market exhibitor specializing in autographs.  One of the postcards that the man had bought had been signed by Babe Ruth, thus making the card instantly skyrocket in value.

So if you are looking for some cool and unique decorations for your apartment or room, maybe consider stopping by the Super Flea Market sometime this summer.  You never know what you may find, and who knows it could actually turn out to be something that could make you a little extra cash.

Make the Most Out of Summer School

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

With spring semester now over, and summer officially here, there is much fun to be had. But for some  students at UNC Greensboro, you can forget about the fun and bring on summer school, which starts next Wednesday, May 19th.  So how do you make the most out of summer school when you would rather be at the beach with your friends?  Below are a few tips to make the best out of summer school:

1. Get enough sleep. Getting enough sleep is one of the best things to do for your body. If your sleeping habits are not regular, it can often set your body off in negative ways which in turn can have a negative effect on your studies.

2. Keep a calendar. Write down all of your assignments, appointments, and due dates, on a calendar or in an agenda. Make sure you keep note of everything that is due, so you don’t miss an assignment.

3. Remember your goals. You may need to make compromises to reach your goals, but it will not only help you get more studying and school work done, but it will also help you to stay focused and remember why you decided to take summer classes in the first place.

4. Most importantly… Go to class and take good notes! It is as simple as that.  The more you go to class, the more information you are able to hear, which means that you learn more, and make better grades.  Summer school will be over sooner than you think so don’t be down about it, and make it a worthwhile experience!
