Be Prepared

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Life is synonymous with change. The seasons go from winter to summer; as we grow older our bodies develop. Everything around us works in conjunction with the idea that stability is deadly and change means that life will go on. Without it we remain stagnant and really, being stagnant means being boring. And let’s admit it, who really wants to be the boring kid? No one. Everyone wants to be dynamic, interesting, a multi-faceted jewel!
However, since life is constantly changing we must always be prepared for the different directions that life can take us. One moment we might be heading toward this destination but life will almost giddily throw you a road block that has you hitting a sharp U turn and backing out the direction you just came. Or perhaps you were so sure about were life was taking you that you never even thought about a plan B. Well, to think like that might be comforting to some but it is foolish. Always have a back up plan to everything you do because you are definately not psychic and life is not exactly working off of your personal game plan. Always be prepared and realize that part of the fun of living is knowing that you never really know!

Clean Dishes

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Did you not love coming home after a long day of middle school and hearing your grandma nag you about the dirty dishes you were supposed to have finished last night? Didn’t it bring you everlasting joy to feel your mom’s reprimanding eyes as you scrubbed at a few crusty plates? And weren’t you just giddy with excitement as you accidently sliced your finger on a dirty knife to only have a washed out by sudsy, dirty dish water? Of course not! Doing the dishes is just about the most irritating thing you can be doing with your day.
The good news is that Stadium Place & Allston Place can truly feel your pain. They know just how much you hate to feel the skin on your fingers turn into mushy, pruney, grandpa flesh. No more cutting yourself with a butter knife. Now all you have to do is rinse, load and push start. It’s just another way that Stadium Place & Allston Place are taking your stress into their hands and gently massaging it away!

Emergency Cash

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Money always seems to be tight. UC Berkeley students know that being in college has a way of draining your financial reserves. Of course, there is the salvation of the summer. With the sweltering heat and the time off from the constant studying many students opt for a summer job or two. Racking in the dollars seems to be the main objective for going on summer break. Bills need to get paid and student loans are screaming at the top of their lungs for your attention. And spending money on yourself seems just a little out of reach for now.

Even if you can’t use any of the five hundred dollar check you get for busting your butt on treats for yourself, make sure you take a small chunk out for that empty emergency fund. Start off with taking ten percent and putting it into a savings account each pay day. You never know when that car is going to give out in a fit of smoke and whines or even when your sister might desperately need to borrow a nice chunk of change for something worth while. Unless you can accurately predict the future there is no way of telling what is going to happen when. Just make it a habit to put money into a fund for unexpected emergencies and sleep better at night knowing you’ve taken care of yourself for the future.
