Frank Solich Show Returns to Donatos

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

The new home for the Frank Solich Radio Show in 2011 is a return to an old location.

Donatos at 688 E. State in Athens has signed an exclusive three year contract with IMG College to host the show. The popular pizza restaurant was the show’s home during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

“Donatos is incredibly excited to host the coach’s show for the next three year,” said franchise manager Beau Goodrich. “We are all big Bobcat fans and love the excitement that the show brings to our store.”

Seventh-year head football coach Frank Solich and Bobcat players will join Russ Eisenstein, the “Voice of the Bobcats”, and veteran network analyst, Rob Cornelius.

“A radio coach’s show is a classic part of every football game week broadcast schedule, and the Solich Show has been a lot of fun to do,” Eisenstein said. “Fans really enjoyed our previous two years at Donatos, so being back there for 2011 and beyond is a great fit.”

Power 105 (WXTQ), the flagship station of the Citizen’s Bank Ohio IMG Sports Network, will carry the hour long live program from 7-8 p.m. on Monday night’s through the season. Because of Labor Day, the show for Gardner Webb week is scheduled for Tuesday night at the same time.

RENT is coming to Ohio University!

Monday, May 30th, 2011

When it is finally summer with fewer classes in sight, you now have time to enjoy free time activities you couldn’t during the hectic school year. Make your journey out in Athens to see the Lost Flamingo Company’s presentation of the musical RENT. Rent is a musical based around the central context of the quote, “How do you measure a year?”.

“Rent (often stylized as RENT) is a rock opera with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, and based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

On Broadway, Rent gained critical acclaim and won a Tony Award for Best Musical among other awards. The Broadway production closed on September 7, 2008, after a 12-year run, making it the 9th longest-running Broadway show by that time, ten years behind The Phantom of the Opera as of December 2009. The production grossed over $280 million.

The success of the show led to several national tours and numerous foreign productions, and in 2005, it was also adapted into a motion picture that features most of the original cast members.”

LFC’s performance of Jonathan Larson’s breathtaking rock opera will take you to Bohemian Alphabet City, and allow you to witness 20 somethings struggle with love, artistic expression, drugs, the Man, and figuring out how to live with AIDS. Come laugh, cry, and celebrate the death of Bohemia with this incredible cast from May 27th until June 4th!
