Lollapalooza Coming to Grant Park

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Summer may be the best time to catch a concert, but those student loans may be holding you back from seeing the dynamic Lady Gaga on her Monster Ball Tour. According to Ticketmaster.com, standard admission to see the reigning queen of pop at Madison Square Garden costs just a few dollars short of $200. Tickets to see crooner Michael Bublé at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas go for $95, with auctions starting at $450 per ticket. If classic rock is more your thing, you could expect to pay over $70 for a single ticket to see the legendary glam band KISS.

But don’t worry, Lollapalooza is coming back to Chicago’s Grant Park August 6-8, offering coutless concerts for one low price. The three day event will feature Green Day, Lady Gaga, The Strokes, Pheonix, MGMT, MuteMath, and Switchfoot, just to name a few. Lollapalooza has featured a diverse range of bands and has helped expose and popularize alternative rock groups such as Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails for the past 19 years. Conceived and created in 1991 by singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band, Jane’s Addiction, Lollapalooza ran annually until 1997, was revived in 2003, and has since been reworked into its current format as a weekend festival at Grant Park in Chicago, IL.
