Will you join Google+?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Will you be joining Google’s latest craze? With the unsuccessful stories of Google’s previous ‘products,’ this new launched social networking is now labeled as a ‘project’ instead of a ‘product.” Basically, Google+ for dummies is an attempt to combine Facebook’s wall, Twitter’s tagging, FourSquare’s location tools and combine into one sharing tool where you can even attached pictures.

For example, if you wanted to let a few friends know you were at the local ice cream shop, you could use Google+ to attach your location, tag specific friends from a Circle (another Google+ feature), and upload a picture of double scoop of Chunky Monkey all in one post. You can check out the Demo anytime. Everything is new and updated and this could be the next big “Facebook.”

Will you give it a shot?

How to say “Thank you”

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

These days the computer world is convenient and easy to use - otherwise
known as the fastest way of communicating. So, when is it okay to use
this technology to follow up with a “thank you” and when is it not?

A common way of keeping up with friends in this day is by using
Facebook. If it’s your birthday and 120 people write on your virtual
wall, no you do not have to send a personalized “thank you” note to
everyone. This is when it’s okay to write back on their wall or send a
mass email using the Messaging tool Facebook provides.

If someone sends you a present in the mail, a simple email should not bean acceptable way of saying “thank you.” That person put time and effortand should deserve a thank you card. However, if a present is given to you in person, more than likely you’ve thanked them profusely already,so a follow up email is sufficient.

Another setting in which an email will suffice is in a job interview
setting. Once you’ve spent time with that person, thanking them for
taking the time to meet you is always in your best interest. An email is short, sweet & sincere and will leave them with a lasting impression. Use your apartment complex’s computer lab to do so! It’s always available for you!

Twitter Mania

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

First it was Myspace, then it was Facebook, and now, it is Twitter.  So what exactly is Twitter?  If you don’t already know, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have lived under a bridge for the past few years, it just means that you need to hop on the Twitter bandwagon ASAP!  Twitter is an online social network that lets you share what you are doing at this moment.  Mostly we hear about things that celebrities have tweeted, but anyone anywhere can use Twitter.  All you do is post what you are doing at the moment in 140 characters or less.  For example, Kim Kardashian recently tweeted, “Up early for the airport! Had 2 hrs of sleep… Heading home then hopping straight on another flight to Monaco today! Lots of travel today.”

More recently though, business have begun to utilize Twitter to connect with their customers, and to reach out to  prospective customers, and offer information about their business to get their name out there.  Customers can tweet or message the business to offer their feedback or suggestions.

Since its debut in 2006, Twitter has caused no harm and has only been a lot of fun to millions of users.  It is all about networking, and keeping up to date with the people or businesses worth following.  If used properly it is just another way to get your name out there and network, so join the flock already and visit Twitter.com
